About the Assignment
As a Maintenance Planning Lead, your role is essential in implementing, streamlining, and continuously improving the Santos CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) processes across the organization. Leading continuous improvement by influencing diverse teams at all levels of the PNG operation. You will assist Operations and Maintenance teams in optimizing asset management and maintenance workflows, ensuring CMMS is utilized effectively. A key aspect of your role will be continuous monitoring of business-critical KPIs, exploring opportunities for process improvements, and guiding nationals to develop and apply CMMS practices in their day-to-day tasks. You will also guide and support the Planning & Scheduling teams, focusing on the Scope, Plan, execute process, and providing continuous daily guidance to the Planning Leader and Scheduling & Campaign Leader to ensure their success.

Tasks include:
CMMS Implementation & Streamlining:
  • Implement and continuously streamline the Santos CMMS processes to ensure they meet operational needs and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance teams, leading them through the CMMS journey to ensure smooth adoption, integration, and optimization.
  • Provide guidance on troubleshooting and CMMS best practices, ensuring the system remains efficient, accessible, and user-friendly.
Operational Support & Process Improvement:
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance teams with day-to-day tasks, ensuring the effective use of CMMS for preventive maintenance, work order management, and asset tracking.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying opportunities to improve performance and reduce maintenance-related downtime.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements within CMMS and across maintenance workflows, driving efficiency and cost savings.
Guide the Planning & Scheduling Team:
  • Scope, Plan, Execute: Provide continuous guidance to the Planning Leader and Scheduling & Campaign Leader to ensure successful planning and execution of maintenance activities.
  • Work closely with the Planning & Scheduling teams to ensure the Scope, Plan, Execute process is followed effectively, ensuring clear work order definitions, optimized scheduling, and timely execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Provide daily support and mentoring to the Planning Leader and Scheduling & Campaign Leader, helping them to address challenges, improve their workflows, and achieve their goals.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment between the Planning & Scheduling teams and the broader operations team to ensure that maintenance schedules are achievable and aligned with operational needs.
Training, Upskilling & Mentorship:
  • Mentor and guide national staff to enhance their skills in CMMS and maintenance practices, ensuring they apply best practices to their daily tasks.
  • Provide hands-on training, create instructional resources, and lead workshops that empower teams to utilize CMMS effectively and independently.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development, particularly focusing on the skill development of nationals to support operational success.
Compliance and Governance:
  • Ensure CMMS and maintenance activities are aligned with Santos Management System (SMS), Delegation of Authority (DOA), and Corporate Governance standards.
  • Maintain high standards of compliance in cost management and financial oversight, ensuring maintenance-related budgets are adhered to and cost-control measures are followed.
Reporting and Analysis:
  • Maintain regional dashboards and reporting tools that provide real-time insights into maintenance performance, work orders, and asset health.
  • Generate and analyse reports related to work orders, maintenance KPIs, and asset performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Utilize data insights to recommend changes to CMMS configurations, maintenance practices, and asset management strategies to improve overall performance.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
  • Collaborate with various teams across the business, including engineering, operations, and leadership, to ensure seamless CMMS integration and continued improvement of maintenance processes.
  • Provide guidance on maintenance strategies that align with business goals, ensuring the integration of new technologies, best practices, and regulatory requirements.

This assignment is initially offered for 6 months, engaged via Chandler Macleod.  This position operates full-time from Santos’ Brisbane CBD offices. 

About You
  • Bachelor of Engineering or a Trade Qualification, with significant experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, and CMMS management.
  • Detailed, lived experience with the maintenance processes, especially work identification and prioritisation, planning and scheduling.
  • Be able support and mentor to the Santos specific processes, using their experience and knowledge to fill gaps and operationalise those processes with the team.
  • Have a strong understanding of tools and systems to support those processes.
  • SAP is our maintenance management system (CMMS) so experience in SAP is beneficial but other CMMS experience can still be relevant
  • Experience with implementing and supporting integrated scheduling tools. Prometheus is our system so experience their is beneficial. But experience with other tools may be just as applicable.
  • Extensive experience in the implementation, optimization, and management of CMMS systems, with a proven track record in maintenance management within the oil and gas sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to manage and support operations teams, driving continuous improvement while promoting collaboration across departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence diverse teams to ensure effective and sustainable improvement.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver clear reports and presentations, and facilitate training sessions for diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex maintenance data and propose effective solutions to improve operational efficiency.
